Dr. Khan has been performing Radiology Interventional procedures for almost THIRTY YEARS. Dr. Khan’s special expertise is in very precisely accessing difficult to reach body areas and joints using CT guidance. These areas are difficult to access as tissues have been damaged by disease or surgery and the joints are further narrowed by degenerative changes or trauma. Dr. Khan’s accurate access of these diseased areas is critical to performing biopsies, injecting contrast/ pain management medications. For past five plus years Dr. Khan has become interested in injecting stem cells instead of the usual contrast and or pain management medications into these same areas. Stem cells if accurately deposited help rebuild the tissues and alleviate symptoms. For example stem cells deposited outside the joint space are restricted from entering the joints by multiple tissue layers so that repair and or healing either does not occur or is very minimal. Also if CT-guidance is not used than stem cells can be injected at incorrect depth or injected into other organs such as bladder or bowel from where they are promptly excreted and no relief occurs. Thus accurate injection is imperative. Dr. Khan is an expert at accurate injections due to her extensive experience as an Interventional Radiologist.
